Strange, strange dreams

Wednesday, August 25th, 2004

Last night, I had a rather strange dream. I went to Quiznos, and ordered the same sub I usually order, but the person making it (an old, white-haired woman, quite unlike the young college-age women and men who work there in real life) screwed it up and blamed me. (The place also looked radically different than it does in real life.) So I went back later to complain to the manager, who just happened to be Russian President Vladimir Putin. He would keep getting distracted, and I was too distracted and nervous to state myself clearly. All of a sudden, a big dark-haired man hit me and wrestled me to the ground, blaming me for the death of his girlfriend. (This bit is a little less random than it seems. I can elaborate privately.)

EDIT: No, I never killed anyone’s girlfriend.

Moving in

Monday, August 23rd, 2004

I’ve moved into Honors Hall for my second year of college. Seems to be going all right, I guess. For those wanting to hear about the movies, last week I rented Unbreakable, Uprising, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill (Vol. 1 and 2), Traffic, and the first season of Penn and Teller’s show Bullshit!. Expect comprehensive reviews as soon as I have time to write them. Long story made short: Pulp Fiction has reached the ranks of my favorite movies ever. Unbreakable has as well.

I got my first class tomorrow morning at 9. We’ll see how that goes. I don’t feel quite ready for class and such yet, but I’ll probably feel settled into the routine as soon as classes start.

Quotes of the week

Monday, August 16th, 2004

My first ever quotes of the week are from funny Slashdot comments:

First Comment:

It won’t be long before hardware is essentially free, and the software/services you buy are where the money is generated.

Wrong, comrade. Not only hardware will be free, but software will be GNU. Toothbrushes and women will be public property and we will be living in the communism!

Second Comment:

I wore a shirt to AVP [Alien vs. Predator] last night that said on the front “GO PREDATORS” and on the back “ALIENS SUCK”. A lot of odd looks, especially at the gas station after.

Movie Rental Time!

Monday, August 9th, 2004

All right. Now that I’m back home for another two weeks in the wonderful town of Port Angeles (to answer your question, Jacqueline), I have a few things to do. Namely, read, and above all rent movies. Port Angeles has a relatively good video store, Star Video, which seems to have everything. Which is why I’m posting an open question:

What movies should I rent?

I ask this because all my friends suggest movies to me to rent, and I tell them that I’m putting their suggestions on my list. Thing is, I don’t have a list. But you can all make one for me, if you post your suggestions in the comments. This will also give me a sense of how many people actually read this thing.

I’m 19, and other news

Friday, August 6th, 2004

Well, I’m 19 years old as of two days ago. I got a digital camera and the complete third season of The Simpsons. That means—you guessed it—you’ll finally have some idea of what I actually look like now. I’ll post new pics soon. Also, I’ll go over the whole site and do a couple updates.
