My macbook has a really low input volume as a default. I don't have time for her crap). Yeah, the shootings suck. They freaked me out (being a grad student and a college instructor and all). But I don't think it's a realistic fear. I should worry a lot more about a car crash on the way to my field site. I think people worry b/c it's a novel threat. We're not complacent anymore. But I also don't think school shootings (or shootings in general) are really going to convince me to carry my gun around every day.
