Other than making the bed, I don't think so. The stack of pants is actually deliberate—I don't really have the room for a full dresser without blocking the windows, closet, door, heat vent, etc. There's more mess, of course, but nothing you can see in the video.

one little tip on the microphone thing: did you check your input volume? My macbook has a really low input volume as a default. Once I increase the input volume, I don't have any problems being heard via the built in mic.

I suppose I am closer in my video than you are in your video tho, but I'm not right next to the monitor or anything . . .
http://youtube.com/watch?v=rZb3yb0mv8o

PS I agree with your take on the whole shooting thing (you got into it on Jacqui's blog, but I'm pretty much done commenting there. I don't have time for her crap). Yeah, the shootings suck. They freaked me out (being a grad student and a college instructor and all). But I don't think it's a realistic fear. I should worry a lot more about a car crash on the way to my field site. I think people worry b/c it's a novel threat. We're not complacent anymore. But I also don't think school shootings (or shootings in general) are really going to convince me to carry my gun around every day. I can imagine much more annoyance/problems/etc will result from carrying my gun around classes than my not having a gun.
