Ramblings about personality and politics
Thursday, December 12th, 2002In my Contemporary Issues class, we’re doing Mock Congress. I’m a Republican from Utah in it, which is probably halfway between what I really am and the opposite of what I am. Sure, I seem like a Republican to most people, but that’s just because I have that kind of personality. You know how Republicans and Democrats have different personalities? I’ve noticed it. But it’s utter lunacy to base your politics on your personality, which is what the mainstream ends up doing. Nah, I’m a libertarian, and there are both “liberal personality” libertarians and “conservative personality” libertarians. In other words, many libertarians are warm and fuzzy, some are not. I don’t tend to have a warm and fuzzy personality, but I can at times.
